About the authors of Introducing Psychological Research

Phil Banyard

Phil Banyard is Senior Lecturer in Psychology at Nottingham Trent University. He teaches on Introductory Psychology and Applied Psychology courses. He is a member of the Technology in Education research team and which has received grants from Becta and the EU to look at the impact of technology on pedagogy and on the performance of learners.

Phil has a long standing interest in the teaching of psychology at all levels. He was Chief Examiner for GCSE Psychology and then A Level Psychology with OCR for nearly 20 years. He is currently on the Psychology Education Board of the British Psychological Society and chair of the sub-committee that looks at pre-degree psychology (SCoPTE). During his time as an A Level examiner he marked more examination papers than he has brain cells left and if he never sees another one again it will be too soon.

When not hunched over a computer pretending to be a lecturer he goes down to the Stadium of Broken Dreams that is the City Ground to watch Nottingham Forest. He has also found the time to write texts including:
